It’s that time of the year again: Las Vegas time! This year I once again got an invite from Dell EMC to visit this yearly conference. It’s less than two weeks before the event, but I already have a full agenda: from networking with the Dutch in the “Dutch Delegation” to a super secret meeting with the Dell EMC Customer Council and maybe even some interviews!

Het is weer die tijd van het jaar: EMC World komt eraan. Het is niemand ontgaan dat in de afgelopen dagen en weken weer allerlei noviteiten van EMC het daglicht hebben gezien: VxRail, VMAX all flash en de nieuwe DSSD en waar is het beter om deze noviteiten te gaan bekijken en je goed te laten informeren? Juist: op EMC World in Las Vegas!! Wissel ervaringen uit met andere klanten, maak kennis met (Nederlandse) partners en filosofeer met EMC specialisten over nieuwe mogelijkheden of maak gewoon die overstap naar het derde platform in IT.
Net als voorgaande jaren organiseert EMC Nederland weer een sociaal programma rondom het EMC IT-event van het jaar. Heb je de hele dag interessante sessies gevolgd en ben je toe aan wat ontspanning, dan is de Dutch Delegation een aanrader. Dit sociale programma begint op zondag 1 Mei en eindigt op donderdag 4 Mei en zal gedurende EMC World de rode draad zijn door dit drukke evenement.
15 Thousand nerds gathering in Las Vegas for the yearly week of EMC propaganda. That’s what a lot of people might think it is anyway. It’s the 2014th edition… that doesn’t sound right. Ehm, oh well, you get my drift. Well, maybe it is nerd-week, but hey: every vendor who thinks they’re the best in something is doing this sort of events and besides that, it’s a great event to meet people you haven’t seen in a year or so.
Social networking, gathering knowledge of things to come, looking for solutions to challenges you already have in your normal day jobs, looking for insights in things on your wish list. Bacon, unicorns, hardware and a loooot of “software”, since that’s the trend since a few years. No matter how you explain it:
Are you planning on going to EMC World in 2014? The attending Dutch people (or people working for a Dutch company) are in for a treat. Once again EMC Netherlands offers the so-called “Dutch Delegation” package. In short this means that EMC NL organizes several events during the week where you can gather with other Dutch speaking customers during a field trip, dinner or hanging out at a bar.

In 2012 the Sunday field trip was a really nice helicopter flight through the Grand Canyon starting at the Grand Canyon Ranch including a BBQ-lunch.
In 2013 the Sunday field trip included a boat experience on the Colorado river.
And in 2014 it’s going to be a visit to the “Valley of Fire National Park”. I visited the “VoF” in 2013 and it was amazing! Check out my photos in this post!
Wednesday started with breakfast in the great food room in the basement. I don’t know any other name for this enormous place. And for the second time this week I ran into Sergey on my way there. I think he was following me around, I’m not sure. Hmmmm.
